Empowered by AI: Transforming Patient Outcomes Through Nursing and Leadership

Program Description: This program explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping the future of healthcare by enhancing nursing practice and leadership. Participants will discover how AI-driven tools can support clinical decision-making, streamline workflows, and improve patient outcomes—empowering nurses and healthcare providers to lead innovation and drive change in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. Participants will develop a practical action plan tailored to their organizational or clinical context. This program aims to reinforce knowledge acquisition, support real-world application, and inform continuous improvement of future seminars.

Using interactive case studies, AI projects, role play, and action plan development, participants will:

  • Define key concepts and terminology related to artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare.
  • Describe ways AI can be applied to improve patient outcomes and support clinical practice.
  • Identify opportunities and challenges in implementing AI in clinical environments.
  • Recognize increased confidence in using or engaging with AI technologies in the clinical setting.

Track Director for DNP Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Track

Leigh Montejo, DNP, FNP-BC, is the Director of the DNP Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Track at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Dr. Montejo’s scholarly interests focus on enhancing learning outcomes through the use of advanced technologies, with a particular emphasis on innovation and the integration of artificial intelligence into healthcare education. She currently serves as co-coordinator of the School of Nursing’s Artificial Intelligence Specialty Interest Group.

Jeanne Moore, DNP, FNP-BC, is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. With a foundational background in computer science and eight years of experience as a programmer analyst—including work with neural networks—she brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to the field of nursing. Dr. Moore’s scholarly interests include technology-enhanced learning, and she currently serves as co-coordinator of the School of Nursing’s Artificial Intelligence Specialty Interest Group.

Daniel W. Byrne
Faculty member at Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering and the Department of Biostatistics at the Bloomberg School of Public Health

Daniel W. Byrne is a faculty member in the Whitening School of Engineering and the Department of Biostatistics, Bloomberg School of Public Health.

His area of expertise is in using artificial intelligence to improve patient outcomes.

Tuition Remission

Full-time Johns Hopkins University faculty and staff, and their spouses and dependent children qualify for Tuition Remission after the employee completes 120 days of full-time employment at the university. Retirees, their spouses and dependent children are also eligible for Tuition Remission for Johns Hopkins courses. Visiting Faculty and Staff, Residents, Interns and Postdoctoral Fellows are not eligible for Tuition Remission.

Johns Hopkins University full time Faculty or Staff members are eligible to use JHU Tuition Remission to pay for the Empowered by AI: Transforming Patient Outcomes Through Nursing and Leadership course.

Refund and Cancellation Policies

Refunds, less a $50 processing fee per person, are provided to participants who cancel at least 30 days prior to a program offering. Requests to cancel received less than 30 days prior to a program will be offered registration in a substitute program, less a processing fee per person.

Johns Hopkins University reserves the right to cancel a course due to low enrollments, in which event the enrollment fees for the course(s) will be refunded. If a course is canceled, applicants are notified immediately and are processed a full refund unless another course is requested.
