Building a Skilled Nursing Workforce Globally
Established in 2011, the Center for Global Initiatives (CGI) is a cross-functional, integrated, and strategic administrative unit serving as an operational umbrella for existing and developing JHSON international education, practice, research, and policy initiatives.
The Center leads activities that position JHUSON as a world leader in nursing education, research and practice locally and globally.
Vision, Mission, and Values
The Center believes in the investment of people and institutions to build capacity. Using the collective knowledge, skills, and experiences of nursing faculty and students and professional staff, the Center’s mission is to promote innovation, strengthen the nursing workforce, and advocate for the global advancement of nursing education, research, practice, and health policy.
The Center brings the core values of Hopkins Nursing—excellence, respect, diversity, integrity, and accountability—to the field of global nursing to leverage the profession of nursing and the promotion of health across the world. To achieve this, CGI:
Fosters individual excellence in our faculty, visiting scholars, students, and staff.
Works collaboratively within JHSON, the University, and our partner institutions
