Gender-based violence faculty interest group comprise of a multidisciplinary team of faculty members, with background in nursing, social work, public health, and medicine and with expertise working with diverse populations such as immigrant, indigenous, LGBTQI+, and young adults. The goals are to:

  • Foster new interdisciplinary research collaborations as well as academic-community partnership to support GBV research and practice

  • Strengthen partnerships for gender-based violence prevention and intervention efforts locally, nationally, and globally

  • Focus on ways to dramatically increase the public impact of individual and collective scholarship whether via policy reports, op-ed pieces, or blog submissions

  • Review existing literature on gender-based violence research and interventions, particularly focusing on marginalized populations and those in limited resource settings

  • Generate research aims for grant applications to address gender-based violence in local, national, and global settings.

  • Engage in other activities (e.g., manuscripts, presentations) to examine gender-based violence and related health issues

  • Create mentorship opportunities for students and non-affiliated community-based researchers interested in GBV research and practice
