Tanner Recognized as a Distinguished Educator

Elizabeth Tanner, PhD, RN, FAAN, received the National Gerontological Association’s 2015 Distinguished Nurse Educator Award.

Tanner has devoted much of her career to preparing the next generation of nurses to care for an aging population. She works extensively in community settings with underserved older adults, leads the school in developing interprofessional education, and is nationally recognized for expertise in developing educational programs and curriculum around gerontological nursing. At Hopkins, she has led the development of gerontology across the curriculum at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels, including the development of a required aging course that received the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing and American Association of Colleges of Nursing Stand-Alone Geriatric Course Award.
