Prestigious Federal Appointment for Laura Gitlin

Laura Gitlin, PhD, has been invited by Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell to serve as a member of her Advisory Council on Alzheimer’s Research, Care, and Services.

Gitlin, director of the Center for Innovative Care in Aging at the Hopkins School of Nursing, has specialized in innovative, non-pharmacological interventions for patients suffering from dementia. She was chosen from a field of 80 nominees, according to a letter from the advisory council, which meets quarterly to discuss the efficacy of government programs targeting the needs of individuals and caregivers coping with the consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).
