Johns Hopkins School of Nursing’s Kenneth Dion Becomes Sigma’s President-Elect

or

Kenneth Dion, PhD, MSN, MBA, FAAN, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (JHSON) Assistant Dean for Business Innovation & Strategic Relationships, has been elected President-Elect of Sigma, one of the most influential nursing organizations across the world. Starting in 2021, Dion will lead Sigma’s Board of Directors and the greater organization in its mission to develop nurse leaders anywhere to improve health care everywhere.

“What an honor and opportunity it will be to serve in this new capacity and work with our incredibly talented members throughout the world,” says Dion. “Sigma is about global collaboration and empowering nurses, and I am excited to further its rich history while leading it into an even more innovative future.”

Within Sigma, Dion has presented at international conferences, served as chair of the Corporate Audit and Accountability Committee, liaison for the Sigma Building Corporation and Global Regional Councils, and most recently as treasurer. He has been a Sigma Theta Tau, Billye Brown, and Virginia Henderson Fellow, and vice president for JHSON’s Nu Beta chapter.

Throughout his career, Dion has furthered health care and nursing and their intersection with technology and business. In 1999, he founded Decision Critical, Inc., a cloud-based information systems company for meeting the education, compliance, and competency development needs of health care organizations, and later founded TurnPath, LLC, a health care technology innovation incubator.

At JHSON, Dion’s inaugural position has given him opportunity to shape and lead the school’s business ventures, establish and enhance partnerships for strategic nursing outreach, and leverage faculty and student expertise to create and advance technologies and other business enterprises.

“Dr. Dion is a scholar, inventor, and expert who will bring excellence, strategy, and vision to the organization,” says Patricia Davidson, PhD, MEd, RN, FAAN, dean of JHSON. “We congratulate him on this monumental achievement and know he will lead initiatives that extend the organization’s vision and impact worldwide.”
