Join us for a Zoom info session where we will answer your questions regarding our online prerequisite courses and provide a virtual tour of some of our classrooms. You'll get the chance to see how the courses are setup, what laboratory assignments might look like, and get a general feel for what it is like taking your prerequisite courses with us.

When you register for this event, you will receive an email prior to the event that will include the link to the Zoom info session conference room. This will require you to download Zoom in order to join.

The online chat is a great way to ask any questions you may have, or see other questions being asked that you may not have thought to ask yourself. An abundance of information is discussed and we hope you will join us. Be sure your computer has Java properly installed and enabled, and your pop up blocker is turned off in order to successfully log into the chat. Chat sessions will become active 15 minutes before the start time to allow students to join.

With our Spring 2023 semester beginning on Tuesday, January 24th, course sites will be opening to registered students on Tuesday, January 17th.

Crystal Patil conducts clinical and community-based intervention research among diverse populations in the US and globally. Since 2006, Dr. Patil has served as Principal Investigator or Co-investigator on many federal and foundation funded multidisciplinary research projects (e.g., NIH, NSF, PCORI, and Rita & Alex Hillman Foundation). She works to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes by adapting evidence-based interventions for use in diverse community and clinic settings. Dr. Patil is a group healthcare expert and has adapted group healthcare models for pre and postnatal care, HIV prevention, the transition from pediatric to adult clinic for those with sickle cell disease, and for the uptake of PrEP among sex workers. She collaborates with community experts and organizations to improve the health of women, families, and communities. She is currently wrapping up the 5^th year of an NINR-funded effectiveness-implementation trial of group prenatal care in Malawi. Dr. Patil is committed to collaborating with and mentoring colleagues, fellows, and students. This year, she was nominated by peers and awarded the 2022 UIC College of Nursing Distinguished Mentor of Faculty Award.

The COMPASS journal club is an opportunity for SON students to critically evaluate recent articles from academic literature on subjects related to our mission and vision. The journal club aims to create awareness about current issues, research, opportunities, and initiatives.

Through journal club, we hope to foster opportunities for JHU students and faculty to dialogue about current issues in the field. We encourage participants to share their view regarding the appropriateness of the research design, statistical methods employed, and conclusions drawn from the findings.  The COMPASS center welcomes full time faculty and students to attend.

Summer Clinical Requests & New Affiliation Agreements

Registration will be open for the Spring 2023 courses until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25th, as space allows. With this in mind, new students must apply no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on January 24th, otherwise you will not be able to register for courses. You will receive your JHED ID 24-48 hours after the application has been submitted and you will need this ID to complete the registration process.

Join us for a Diversity Dimensions Experience focused on JHSON’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in our admissions process. Each month will highlight a different focus on the diverse and unique population and their potential impact on the profession of nursing.

For this month, Assistant Director of Admissions for Diversity Initiatives, Alexander Murphy will facilitate a discussion on creative research and clinical practices to provide a unique perspective of care. This discussion will address the intersection of art and health care from a holistic care approach.  

We have extended our initial registration period which originally ended on January 20th. Registration will be open for the Spring 2023 courses until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25th, as space allows. Once all course sections have met capacity (either before or by this date), registration will close for that course.

With our semester beginning on Tuesday, January 24th, it is important to remember that the later you register, the less time you will have to review course materials and complete Module 1 assignments by the due date.

Please note: New students, you will not receive your JHED ID until 24-48 hours after the application has been submitted. With this in mind, you should plan to apply no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on January 24th, otherwise you will not be able to register for courses.

After registering, it will take 24 hours for the course to appear in your Canvas course listings. Please keep this in mind, as it means you will not be able to begin reviewing course materials or completing assignments until a full day after you register for the course. Extensions will not be granted due to late registration, so please plan accordingly.
