Start Your Research Career with Confidence

Behind every successful research study is a skilled and well-prepared research team. Research Coordinators and Nurses often take the lead on the critical, day-to-day responsibilities that keep studies running smoothly — from managing budgets and regulatory submissions to recruiting participants and maintaining data integrity.

The Online Orientation for Research Staff (OORS) is designed to support entry-level, research staff as they step into these important roles. Whether you’re new to research or transitioning into a coordinator position, this self-paced online program offers the essential knowledge and tools you need to succeed.

This program offers 2.75 contact hours of Nursing Continuing Professional Development, making it a valuable resource for staff involved in clinical research or research administration.

The OORS program includes 10 concise, focused modules that introduce key concepts and responsibilities across the research lifecycle:

  • Ethical Considerations
  • Roles & Responsibilities
  • Budget & Finance
  • Recruitment & Retention
  • Regulatory File Maintenance
  • Informed Consent
  • Data Collection & Management
  • Institutional Review Boards (IRBs)
  • Adverse Events & Protocol Deviations
  • Quality Assurance & Quality Control

You’ll receive structured, foundational training that prepares you for the realities of coordinating research studies, including:

  • A clear introduction to your professional role
  • Step-by-step training on study coordination essentials
  • Regular updates on federal regulations and best practices
  • Expert guidance and mentoring from experienced faculty
