Post-Award

Post-Award refers to funded proposals where JHU has received a notice of award and accepted on behalf of a PI the terms, conditions, and requirements of the award. During this phase of the award life cycle, the research administration objectives are achieved through a collaborative effort between Principal Investigators, Research Staff, NORA staff, Office of Sponsored Research, and often with the participation of many other internal and external contributors.

All faculty with active grants will be assigned a staff memebr to support their research efforts.

The Post-Award Phase comprises a significant amount of work over the duration of the award which includes:

  1. New Award Set up

  2. Grant reporting (financial and technical reports)

  3. Monitoring Budgets—Account Reconciliation

  4. Expenditure Review and Approval

  5. Cost Transfers

  6. Internal and External Approvals for Project Changes or Extensions

  7. Effort Reporting

  8. Subrecipient Payments and Monitoring

  9. Close out –ending the grant process-award recipient must submit the final financial and technical reports
