Overview
Tammy Slater is an acute care nurse practitioner specializing in the care of adult patients with cardiovascular disease. Dr. Slater has extensive experience in medicine, surgery, and critical care. Currently, she practices as an ACNP in cardiothoracic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Slater has spoken nationally on utilizing nurse practitioners in cardiothoracic critical care and on the implementation of a peri-operative glycemic control protocol in cardiac surgery patients. She published a chapter on how to place a skin lead to act as a ground wire for temporary pacing and contributed to a book chapter on the management of postoperative cardiac arrhythmias in cardiac surgery patients. In addition, she is a reviewer for Critical Care Nurse and AACN Procedure Manual for Critical Care, 7th edition.
