Krysia Hudson is a leader in informatics practice and education, a cutting-edge technology that combines information technology and nursing knowledge to benefit both clinical practice and nursing education. She is a member of the innovative team that has elevated the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing to the forefront of this young science by implementing a bedside computer system at Johns Hopkins Hospital (SICU) and configuring an electronic health record system (EHR) for use in the school baccalaureate program, the first in the United States. In addition, she created the Electronic Teaching Assistant (TA), an online supplemental educational resource, and helped co-create the first completely online class for nursing students. Her work has had practical application for students and public health nurses alike. She has configured personal digital assistants (PDAs) with evidence-based clinical knowledge that is helping school practitioners and students make faster, more informed therapeutic decisions for their patients. Hudson was the U.S. representative for the 2006 European Informatics Conference.
