As a PhD candidate at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Kyra Mendez has collaborated on a variety of research studies, mostly focused on improving the health and well-being of persons living with chronic health conditions and family caregivers of persons with dementia. Her current dissertation study is investigating digital technology use among dementia family caregivers who have chronic conditions. Mendez’s long-term goal is to lead the development and adoption of technological self-management interventions and influence health policy with her research. She is building on prior research and clinical experiences with older adults, caregivers, and persons living with chronic conditions; as well as developing new skills and knowledge so she can become an expert and innovator in the fields of caregiving, chronic disease management, and use of technologies for managing chronic conditions.
