Smith is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Health Services and Outcomes Research for Aging Populations T32 training program at Johns Hopkins University. Smith earned her PhD from Rutgers University, School of Nursing, where she was a Jonas Nurse Scholar. Her research interests are at the intersection of aging, interdisciplinary care, complex needs, equity, and health outcomes. Smith’s experiences in direct-clinical care and nursing education inform her work. Her current work examines how structural and social determinants influence access to and effectiveness of home health care for older adults with dementia. Smith’s goal is to develop a program of research that informs interventions to improve health outcomes for older adults with complex health and social needs.
