By training, Erh-Chi Hsu is both a public health scientist and a nurse scientist, with clinical experience as a registered nurse in a geriatric ward. Erh-Chi’s dissertation focuses on training requirements for direct care workers in assisted living (AL), aiming to understand the interplay among state-level requirements, workforce, and resident outcomes. Erh-Chi also conducts geospatial projects in long-term care: analyzing market dynamics between AL capacity and nursing home (NH) admissions for people with dementia; mapping and characterizing co-located AL/NH; and mapping dementia diagnostic resources nationally.
