Policies & Expectations – The Learning Collaborative

After two (2) Late-Cancels/No-Shows in a semester, your account on our booking page will be suspended, and you will lose the ability to receive 1-1 tutoring for the remainder of the semester.

  • Tutees are expected to have already engaged with the relevant material AT LEAST once, if not several times prior to any tutoring session

  • The Learning Collaborative Tutors do not teach or re-teach lecture material

    • If you are not caught up on the relevant lecture material for a given session, and/or if your lack of preparation prevents you from engaging in your own learning process, your tutor will end the session early

  • The Learning Collaborative Tutors do NOT provide comprehensive exam review

  • All cancellations or reschedule requests must provide at least 24 hours’ notice

What we DO provide:

  • Engaging and adaptive learning support

  • Highly trained and knowledgeable tutors

  • Safe and welcoming learning environments

  • Customizable tutoring options that can accommodate a wide range of needs and learning styles

What we DO NOT provide:

  • Content instruction. The purpose of tutoring to help you reinforce concepts, not to introduce them for the first time. The Learning Collaborative Tutors will not “teach” material that has already been taught in lecture. Instead, they will provide a facilitative learning environment that enables you to understand and reinforce difficult material.

    • If you are not caught up on the relevant lecture material for a given session, and/or if a lack of preparation prevents you from engaging in your own learning process, your tutor will end the session early.

  • Comprehensive exam review. The Learning Collaborative tutors can help you develop a study plan for upcoming exams, but they will not devote significant amounts of session time to review work.

  • Grade guarantees. While it is likely that your grades will improve if you utilize The Learning Collaborative services on a regular basis, we cannot guarantee any specific grades or improvement of grades as a result of receiving tutoring.

  • You will have attended (or watched/read/listened to) the relevant lecture material at least once prior to any tutoring session

  • You have prepared questions for your session and/or sent your tutor questions in advance

  • You will attend each session on time and ready to engage

  • You will provide your tutor with AT LEAST 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or requests to reschedule

    • Cancellations and reschedule requests made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be marked No-Shows

    • After 2 Late-Cancels/No-Shows in a semester, your account will be suspended, and you will be unable to book 1-1 tutoring for the remainder of the semester
