The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing is committed to highlighting the experiences, research, and practice of various identities belonging to our nursing community. It is a priority for us to amplify the voices belonging to underrepresented communities while providing equitable and accessible opportunities for education and healthcare within our Nursing programs.
Wednesday, August 12 (3-4 pm), we will discuss first-generation and limited-income (FLI) students, this engaging panel discussion will feature School of Nursing students, faculty, and staff who will share their personal journeys through undergraduate education, graduate school, and professional advancement. The session aims to humanize faculty and professional pathways, normalize challenges often encountered by first-generation students, and highlight the institutional resources available to support first-generation and limited-income learners.

Through their diverse perspectives and experiences, panelists will discuss navigating higher education, overcoming barriers, accessing support systems, and building successful academic and professional careers. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that first-generation and limited-income students may encounter, as well as learn about resources and strategies that promote success and belonging within the Johns Hopkins community and beyond. We will also have members of our financial aid team present to support with resources available to Johns Hopkins students.
