Add a Holistic Touch to Your Care: Auricular Acupressure Training
Chronic pain has become a tremendous challenge as the population ages, gets sicker, and demands relief, too often in the form of opioids. Now, a JHSON Executive Education course offers the first steps in bringing a newer type of healing touch to health care toolboxes. Auricular Acupressure Training, an evidence-informed, five-module course, offers an overview of how auricular acupressure, in which a practitioner presses small seeds against specific regions of the ear, may complement holistic approaches to health and wellness.

From the Magazine: Samantha Tsuchiya Scholarship
Samantha Tsuchiya loved the outdoors, particularly skiing, snowboarding, and dirt biking with friends—and was an evacuation nurse, riding in helicopters to bring in sick or injured kids from rural outposts. She served in the Peace Corps in Uganda and never missed a chance to join a team. As her mother, Jan, remembers, “Sam just really loved helping people. They naturally turned to her.”
Samantha Keiko Tsuchiya died April 10, 2025, just shy of graduation from the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program. In her memory, her parents established a scholarship, the first of its kind dedicated to supporting students in the CRNA program at Johns Hopkins to support CRNA students.

Dimensions of Nursing – B’More BDay
The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing is committed to highlighting the experiences, research, and practice of various identities belonging to our nursing community. It is a priority for us to amplify the voices belonging to underrepresented communities while providing equitable and accessible opportunities for education and healthcare within our Nursing programs.
This month Participants will explore Baltimore’s legacy as a city of resilience, innovation, and culture—from its founding in 1729 to its role today as a hub for public health and community-based care. The session will also spotlight how the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is deeply rooted in Baltimore through programs that bring care directly into neighborhoods, creating meaningful, real-world clinical experiences for students.
Through interactive moments, fun facts, and community highlights—including local traditions like Baltimore’s Birthday Bash—attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how the city itself serves as a living classroom for nursing education. Whether you are considering a future in nursing or simply want to celebrate the city behind the journey, this event offers a unique opportunity to connect with the Hopkins community and experience the spirit of Baltimore.
