The American Heart Association has recognized Professor Yvonne Commodore-Mensah with its Watkins-Saunders Award for “outstanding commitment to equitable health and addressing gaps in health outcomes through clinical or medical work and community improvements.” The award was established in 2012 to honor and celebrate the lives and work of trailblazing Drs. Levi Watkins and Elijah Saunders.
A digital celebration to honor Dr. Commodore-Mensah and her commitment to equitable health locally and globally will be held noon-12:45 pm on Thursday, June 19. Congratulations, Dr. Commodore-Mensah!

Register for the Introduction to Clinical Research Summer Course
The Introduction to Clinical Research Summer Course provides an intensive introduction to clinical research methods, emphasizing epidemiological and biostatistical methods. This online course is from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18, 2025 and can be taken for non-credit or credit. Instructors are Daniel Ford, MD, MPH, Director, Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Karen Bandeen-Roche, PhD, MS, the Hurley Dorrier Professor in Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Upon completion, students will:
Describe the steps involved in conducting clinical research.
Review and evaluate the main study designs used in clinical research: case-control, cohort, clinical trials, cross-sectional and meta-analyses.
Prepare and review a research project.
