From the Magazine: MSN Student Cameo Blankenship

As a linebacker at Davidson College in North Carolina, Cameo Blankenship’s job was to diagnose a play before it happened, then beat his opponents to the football. The MSN (Entry into Nursing) student was built for that not just as a lifetime three-sport athlete but as someone who can’t help but look way ahead. “I am one for very deliberate planning,” understates Blankenship of a plan he hatched as a teen to one day get into a top nursing school, ace it, and keep going until he became a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA).

‘The Coat Is Just the Beginning’

The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing will welcome approximately 300 MSN (Entry into Nursing) students during the 2026-2027 academic year. At the beginning of the program, all students will receive a white coat and recite the School of Nursing Pledge as a symbol of their entry into the nursing field. It may seem small, but it carries meaning. For some students, it removes a financial barrier. For all students, it sends a message before they have even taken their first step forward: you are supported, you are seen, and you belong here.

Dimensions of Nursing: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing is committed to highlighting the experiences, research, and practice of various identities belonging to our nursing community. It is a priority for us to amplify the voices belonging to underrepresented communities while providing equitable and accessible opportunities for education and healthcare within our Nursing programs. This month, we are highlighting Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Each month, we shine a spotlight on unique and diverse populations within our community. For this discussion, Cesar Nuñez, admissions officer, will recognize and spotlight current student leaders from the Asian Pacific American Nursing Student Association (APANSA), learn about their experiences at Johns Hopkins, hear about the association’s work, and celebrate their contributions to the AAPI community. No. 51 Globally, No. 29 Nationally

Professor Jacquelyn Campbell has been ranked No. 51 in the world and 29 in the U.S. in Research.com’s 2026 Ranking of Best Scientists in the Field of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Campbell, an International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame inductee for her work in the field of domestic and intimate partner violence, was also recognized with the 2026 Research.com Social Sciences and Humanities in United States Leader Award. Congratulations!

Virtual All Program Information Session

Join a small group of prospective students 3-4 pm Thursday, May 28 for an information session highlighting academic programs and opportunities available at JHUSON. Presentation will be followed by time for prospective students to ask specific questions about their desired programs with admissions officers. The Thursday, May 21 online chat is a great way to ask any questions you may have, or see other questions being asked that you may not have thought to ask yourself. An abundance of information is discussed and we hope you will join us. Be sure your computer has Java properly installed and enabled, and your pop up blocker is turned off in order to successfully log into the chat.
