DNP Course Immersions

Pick the DNP option that best fits your career goals. Earn your DNP online, with the added benefit of course immersions. In immersions, you’ll practice advanced clinical skills with standardized patients in the simulation center at the School of Nursing, and, for select opportunities, with interprofessional teams at Johns Hopkins Medicine. You’ll enhance your relationship with Johns Hopkins’ internationally acclaimed faculty who have broad experience in advanced clinical practice, leadership, and patient safety, and build up your network with the other emerging leaders among your cohort and alumni.

Be practice ready by graduation through our immersive learning approach, and get the professional development guidance you need to emerge as a nursing leader. Our faculty have identified superb mentors and will work with you to identify DNP projects that build upon work currently being done at Johns Hopkins and partner institutions. We’ll evaluate your academic performance using RIME, an innovative clinical competency model.

*The DNP Advanced Practice Nurse Anesthesia track is an on-campus program.
***Beginning Fall 2024, DNP Advanced Practice Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner students are required to be local (MD,DC) for clinicals by semester 3.

Online Local

Immerse yourself in the Johns Hopkins community in Baltimore and work side by side with faculty who are world-renowned experts in your area of interest. Students whose track is online with immersions can relocate to Baltimore if they choose. Students will complete coursework online and work with faculty to set up clinical learning experiences within the Johns Hopkins network of partners. This includes settings such as Henderson Hopkins (a JHU community partnership school), the House of Ruth (a Baltimore domestic violence center), or in a Johns Hopkins Health System hospital or practice.

Online with Onsite Course Immersions:

All coursework is completed online and clinicals are completed in the student’s local geographical region. Students are required to come to campus for onsite immersions that include course competency assessments, standardized clinicals, leadership development opportunities, and networking with JHSON faculty and cohort members.
