Susan Appling

A new undergraduate nursing scholarship named in honor of departing Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) faculty member Susan Appling ’73, will benefit future Hopkins Nursing students and continue the legacy that earned her the nickname of “Supernurse” from students and colleagues. Appling, a longtime assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and nurse practitioner in the Breast Center of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, joined the newly created Women’s Disease Prevention and Research Center at Mercy Medical Center this month. The scholarship fund recognizes Appling’s significant contributions to the School where she will remain as a part-time faculty member. Donations to the Susan E. Appling Scholarship Fund may be made by check, payroll deduction, or with a five-year pledge for gifts over $2,500. All will be matched by an anonymous donor up to $100,000.
