All 2008 Graduating Students, both Traditional and Accelerated classes must notify Mary ORourke by e-mail: [email protected] (phone: 410-955-7548) no later than March 17, 2008 if you are not planning to participate in the Diploma and Award Ceremony.
Academic Regalia is required to be worn at the University-wide Commencement Ceremony as well as the School of Nursing Diploma & Award Ceremonies. Order forms must be submitted to Mary ORourke in Room 113 no later than March 17, 2008. Regalia distribution will be at the Matthews Johns Hopkins Medical Book Center on May 7, 8, and 9, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Late orders are not accepted by the bookstore.
All July 2008 Graduating Students are also invited and encouraged to attend the May ceremonies (please plan to order your academic regalia at this time if you plan to attend the May ceremony). The July event will be held on July 18, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. on the Homewood Campus in Shriver Hall. More information will be available in the near future.
The 132st University-wide Commencement Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008 for both Traditional and Accelerated class students.

Tickets are required. Each student will be given four tickets. If you require more, contact Mary O’Rourke in Room 113 or at 410-955-7548.
12:30 p.m. Students arrive
1:00 p.m. Baccalaureate Class Photo
1:10 p.m. Master’s Class Photo
1:20 p.m. MSN/MPH Class Photo
1:30 p.m. MSN/MBA Class Photo
1:40 p.m. PhD Class Photo
2:30 p.m. Processional begins
A Light reception will be held immediately after the ceremony.
University-wide Commencement Ceremony
Thursday May 17, 2007, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Homewood Campus on the Athletic Field
Arrive early to allow sufficient time to park your car and get to Homewood Field.
Processional begins at 9:00 a.m. and will last approximately two hours.
While degrees are conferred on all candidates at the University-wide Commencement Ceremony, only doctoral candidates are called to the stage to receive diplomas.
Unless there is severe weather (torrential rain and/or lightening), the ceremony will be held outdoors on Homewood Field, so be prepared for the weather – rain or extreme heat.
In the case of severe weather, cancellations will be announced by 6:30 a.m. on the University website and the Johns Hopkins Weather Emergency Line at 410-516-7781.
Students and faculty are invited and encouraged to attend both events.
– Accelerated students graduating in July are also invited to the May events.
– PhD candidates are required to attend the University-wide Commencement Ceremony.
Preparing for the Ceremonies
Students must do the following by March 17:
Order commencement regalia. Order forms are available in SON Room 113.
Contact Mary O’Rourke (Room 113, 410-955-7548) if you are not planning to participate in commencement or if you will be using your own black cap and gown.
Faculty:
Contact Mary O’Rourke (Room 113, 410-955-7548) if attending JHUSON Ceremony.
Contact India Lowres ([email protected]) by March 26 if attending the University-wide Ceremony.
If needed, order commencement regalia. Order forms are available in SON Room 113.

Please do not stand and block other people’s views while taking photos from the audience during the ceremonies.
