Kathleen Becker, assistant professor, for receiving the State Award for Excellence for Nurse Practitioners from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Jacquelyn Campbell, associate dean for faculty affairs, for receiving the Family Violence Sexual Assault Institute 2004 National Award for Advocacy in the Field of Family Violence. Dr. Campbell has also been selected to receive the Maryland Network against Domestic Violence 2004 Education Award.
Marion D’Lugoff, assistant professor, for receiving the State Award for Excellence for Nurse Practitioner Advocate from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Jason Farley, Nina Fredland, Patti Horgas, Sharon Kozachik, and Anne Outwater, all doctoral students and recipients of Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Nursing Research, and Jessica Gill, who received the Freedom from Fear’s Sharon Davies Memorial Award.
Marjorie Fass, who has been promoted to Senior Associate Director of Admissions and Student Services.
Jackie Gray, who has been promoted to Administrative Assistant II with Development and Alumni Relations.
Sara Groves, instructor, who was elected to the Nominating Committee for ACHNE (Association of Community Health Nursing Educators), and Joan Kub, assistant professor, who was elected to the Futures Task Force for ACHNE. Both presented “Developing competencies for international public health nursing practice” at the ACHNE conference in Minneapolis in June.
Lara Ho, Accelerated Class of 2000, who has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program Award to study the barriers to diabetes prevention in Canada’s Northwest Ontario First Nations.
Cassandra Jones, who has been promoted to Associate Director of Admissions and Student Services.
Kathleen Lindenstruth, who is now working as Senior Administrative Assistant to Dr. Jerilyn Allen, associate dean for research. Kate previously worked with Dr. Allen as a research assistant.
Ann Myers, who has been promoted to Senior Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations.
Cynda Rushton, associate professor, who was appointed chair of the Ethics Work Group of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Dr. Rushton was also named with a joint appointment in the department of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and appointed to the Advisory Board for Sanctuary for the Dying in Montgomery County.
Dawn Schauber, junior, for receiving the 2004 Children’s National Medical Center Pediatric Nursing Scholarship.
Daniel Sheridan, assistant professor, who has been selected as a 2004 Rush University College of Nursing Distinguished Alumni.
Barbara Van de Castle, instructor, who was one of the authors of an article, “Information technology and patient safety in nursing practice: an international perspective,” published in the August 2004 issue of the International Journal of Medical Informatics.
Kathleen White, associate professor, who had a paper published in the Nursing and Health Policy Review – Vol. 2, No. 2, entitled “The Maryland Patient Safety Coalition: The Development of a Voluntary Effort with a Legislated Mandate.” Dr. White has also been appointed to the Advisory Board of the new Maryland Patient Safety Center.
