Next Workshop – Monday, June 3, 2019.

Objectives:

  • Describe the epidemiology of HIV in Baltimore City and Maryland State

  • Describe the current treatment guidelines for PrEP

  • Identify key populations impacted by HIV that may benefit from PrEP, including men who have sex with men, transgender persons, women planning to conceive and adolescents, and persons who inject drugs

  • Describe management of significant sexually transmitted infections

  • Demonstrate sexually history taking skills and increase comfort discussing sexuality with patients

  • Demonstrate and provide opportunity to practice proper techniques of extra-genital screening for sexually transmitted infections

  • Discuss patient education with practical approaches for patients to adhere to medication and follow up clinic visits

  • Identify patient support programs and novel PrEP models

Presentations will not include any discussion of the unlabeled use of a product or a product under investigational use with the exception of Dr. Ghanem’s discussion on STD Overview.  He will be discussing extra genital screening for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.  Also with the exception of Dr. Tuddenham’s discussion on STD Overview.  She will be discussing extra genital screening for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.    Also with the exception of Dr.Rompalo’s discussion on STD Overview.  She will be discussing some assays may not yet be FDA cleared and are in the testing developmental phase.  Also extra genital screening for gonorrhea and chlamydia.  Also with the exception of Dr. Nayak’s discussion on STD Overview.  She will be discussing  the recently published data on the drug solithromycin. It is a potential agent for the treatment of gonorrhea, and the phase 3 data is very promising, but the drug is not currently FDA approved for the treatment of gonorrhea. I will keep my comments to data that is publicly available. This drug is important to mention because it has been published in the medical literature, and the audience will likely have questions pertaining to the data.  Also Extra genital screening for gonorrhea and chlamydia.
