Nancy Gentry Russell has 12 years of nursing experience, including eight as a family nurse practitioner (FNP). She earned her BSN and MSN degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her DNP degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Dr. Russell is passionate about improving the health of individuals and populations in the primary care setting and has particular interest in the care of and issues affecting adolescents and young adults. Dr. Russell has provided comprehensive, primary health care for families across the lifespan in rural North Carolina, and for college and university students in Washington, DC and Baltimore. She also served as director of outreach and engagement at the Georgetown University Student Health Center. In addition to her faculty role at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Dr. Russell practices at the Johns Hopkins University Student Health and Wellness Center on the Homewood campus. Dr. Russell is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Nurse Practitioner Association of the District of Columbia, and the American College Health Association, where she currently serves as the Region IV representative to its board of directors.
