Jessica Dean (JD) Murphy

Jessica Dean (JD) Murphy is an instructor at The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care Content Lead. She was a Cohen Scholar and is a Certified Nurse Educator®. Dr. Murphy has over 16 years of practice in the care of acutely and chronically ill children, including 12 years in advanced practice. Her clinical background includes pediatric hematology, oncology, blood & marrow transplantation, and pediatric intensive care. Her doctoral focus was on optimizing nutritional support for children undergoing BMT. Dr. Murphy continues to practice as a Pediatric Oncology/BMT Nurse Practitioner at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and her clinical interests include reducing malnutrition rates during childhood cancer treatment as well as overall care for patients with high-risk neuroblastoma. She maintains certification as a Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse®. In addition to her faculty and clinical roles, she is involved in local and national legislative advocacy focused on health policies to improve the overall health and well-being of children. Dr. Murphy earned her BSN from Stevenson University, MS in pediatric acute care advanced practice nursing from the University of Maryland, and DNP from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing.
