Why “Food is Medicine” is important?

Maintaining cardiovascular health is crucial for Maryland residents due to the high prevalence of heart disease, which is a leading cause of death and a major contributor to healthcare costs and economic impact. Proper nutrition plays a vital role in overall health by supporting heart health, managing weight, controlling blood sugar, boosting mental health, enhancing immune function, and promoting digestive health. Eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help prevent chronic diseases and improve quality of life for Maryland residents.
