Nicole Johnson is a nurse educator with over 25 years of clinical and academic nursing experience. She joined the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 2014 and currently serves as Theory and Lab Coordinator for Foundations of Nursing Practice. She teaches in Family Violence and provides online clinical instruction in the Synthesis Practicum. She has also served as Clinical Coordinator for Chronic and Complex Health Alterations and facilitates simulation-based and interprofessional learning. Academic service includes mentoring fifth-semester practicum students and participating in curriculum and course development initiatives.

Clinical background includes adult medical-surgical nursing, care coordination, gerontology, telemetry, occupational health, travel nursing, and orthopedic surgery. She previously held orthopedic nursing certification and charge nurse roles. Dr. Johnson’s practice experience also includes participation in a successful After Care Clinic pilot at The Johns Hopkins Outpatient Medicine Clinic, where she supported uninsured patients transitioning from emergency care to primary care through comprehensive care coordination, health education, and follow-up services.

Dr. Johnson’s scholarship focuses on trauma-informed education on human trafficking awareness in nursing education. She is an advocate for resilience and well-being in academia and clinical practice and serves as an R3 Champion with the Maryland Resilience Nurses Initiative, representing the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Her professional service includes active membership in the Nu Beta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, the Maryland Nurses Association, and Kappa Gamma Pi Honor Society.
