Dr. Getachew Kassa is a nurse researcher and scholar with over a decade of experience working as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor in Nursing. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Maternal and Child Health at the Harvard School of Public Health and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychiatry and Mental Health Nursing at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, where he is currently serving as a Research Associate. He completed his PhD in Reproductive Health, an MSc in Nursing, and a BSc in Nursing. He has authored more than 88 peer-reviewed publications. His current research focuses on designing and scaling behavioral health interventions for families of young children from low-income backgrounds, leveraging digital health tools to support children’s social and behavioral health outcomes, and advancing maternal and child health, psychiatry and mental health, and global health. He brings a strong record of teaching, mentoring, and service, fostering inclusive and collaborative learning environments while guiding the next generation of nursing professionals.
