Finance and Administration

Allison Benner, Associate Dean of Finance and Administration, joined JHSON in January 2020 after serving for over 20 years in financial, operational, and higher education leadership positions.

Prior to arriving at JHSON, Benner most recently served as Senior Finance Director for the George Washington University School of Engineering & Applied Science. She led and managed the school’s financial, budgetary, administrative, and operational initiatives, served as an advisor to the Dean and the university’s financial management leadership team, and led innovation and strategic planning to develop solutions to market challenges prevalent in the higher education industry. Benner provided financial insight, advice, and strategic guidance in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure alignment of priorities and achievement of common goals within the university.

Prior to her role at GW, Benner served for ten years as a Senior Vice President at Allied Capital Corporation where she led the risk, compliance, and internal audit functions. She was previously a financial analyst at the Carlyle Group and a senior auditor for Arthur Andersen, LLP.

Benner received a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Finance and Policy from the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the George Washington University and her B.S. in Accountancy from Bentley University. She holds a CPA license with the Massachusetts State Board of Public Accountancy and is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, where she is a Certified Internal Auditor.
