Tener Goodwin Veenema, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, will bring a wealth of knowledge on disaster nursing and public health preparedness to the table as a new appointee to the Institute of Medicine Standing Committee for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Strategic National Stockpile.
Along with professionals in risk communications, FDA regulatory issues, logistics management, warehouse and product distribution, medical countermeasure production, and emergency medicine, Veenema will offer advice in the exchange of ideas among government agencies, academic institutions, the private sector, and other emergency response stakeholders.
In the past, Veenema has consulted for the Department of Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs, and most recently was part of the CDC and Johns Hopkins team that developed training modules for donning and doffing of personal protective equipment when treating Ebola patients.
