The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) is seeking two nursing leaders to join the faculty and serve as department chairs in the Department of Community-Public Health and the Department of Health Systems and Outcomes. “We’re looking for leaders who can rise to meet today’s challenges in nursing education and academia,” said DeanMartha N. Hill , PhD, RN. “We have a global shortage of nurses and nurse educators, we’re incorporating new technologies in the classroom and curricula, and we need to keep developing new knowledge to advance nursing practice and improve health outcomes in local and global populations. It’s a tall order.”
TheDepartment of Community-Public Health faculty members address health disparities and promote the health of populations, families, individuals, and communities. Their evidence-based practice and scholarship exemplifies excellence in education, practice, service learning, and research, and centers on the continuum of care and community and public health services in Baltimore and throughout the world.
Faculty in the Department of Health Systems and Outcomes focus on quality improvement and innovations at the patient, provider, and system levels. Their research and practice incorporates innovative technology, measurement and evaluation, and assessment of patient care delivery systems and processes through discovery, teaching, practice, service, and the advancement of behavioral, operational, and organizational science.
JHUSON faculty members–72 full-time and 115 part-time–are committed to excellence in research, teaching, practice, and service, and they are recognized nationally and internationally as experts in their disciplines. The School ranks sixth in the nation for faculty productivity and fifth among nursing schools for NIH funding. Thirty percent of our ranked faculty members are Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing. The National League for Nursing (NLN) has named JHUSON as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education
