Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) assistant professor Deborah E. Jones, PhD, RN, has been accepted as a participant in the Nurse Faculty Mentored Leadership Development Program (NFMLD).
The NFMLD was developed by Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), the honor society for nurses, in partnership with the Elsevier Foundation to enhance the personal leadership development of new nurse faculty to promote faculty retention and cultivate high performing, supportive work environments in academe.
“In order to educate the next generation of nurses, we need to have the faculty to teach them,” Jones said. “This program provides the leadership skills necessary for newer faculty to meet that demand.”
The program kicks off with a workshop for all participants on April 19 in Indianapolis, IN.
As part of the NFMLD program, a mentor is assigned to assist and guide the participant with his/her research project. Diane Billings, a Nurse Education Consultant and manager of the National League for Nursing’s (NLN) Academy of Nursing Education will serve as Jones’ mentor. Jones’ project will focus on the JHUSON’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.
