Nursing Students Garner Awards at Founders’ Day Celebration

Twelve students from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) received Leadership and Scholarship awards for their outstanding academic performance at the Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Nu Beta Chapter Founders’ Day Celebration on October 12.
The recipients were chosen from each of the academic programs:

Bachelor of Science (Traditional and Accelerated)

  • Laura Mitchell (Trad ’11)

  • Hai Yen Ho (Trad ’11)

  • Ashly Higgins (Trad ’11)

  • Marcella Leath (Trad ’11)

  • Hunter Schultz (Accel ’11)

  • Rahwa Gessese (Accel ’11)

Master of Science (Clinical Nurse Specialist, Health , Nurse Practitioner, and combined Master of Science/Master of Public Health)

  • Anushree Ahluwalia

  • Maura Kadan

  • Loc Thomson

  • Karen Gibbs

Doctor of Philosophy

  • Charlene Deuber

Doctor of Nursing Practice

  • Tam Nguyen

“We have so many exceptional students at the JHUSON, and these awards recognize the efforts they put forth every day,” said Nu Beta president-elect Mary Terhaar, DNSc, CNS, RN.
Founders’ Day is an annual service celebration of the values of Sigma Theta Tau, excellence, scholarship, leadership, and service. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the International Year of the Nurse celebration.
