Advances in cardiovascular research, including policy, measurement, technology, theory, and health informatics are the focus of the Innovations for Cardiovascular Health Research conference. Hosted by the Center for Excellence for Cardiovascular Health at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON), the conference will take place on Thursday, December 2, 8:30 am-12:30 pm in the Alumni Auditorium.
Featured speakers include Hopkins Nursing faculty members Patricia Abbott, PhD, RN, FAAN, who will present “Telehealth on Greenmount: Opportunities for HIT-enabled CHF Health Promotion” and Douglas Granger, PhD, who will present “Integrating Salivary Analytes into the Study of Stress.” Additional speakers include Shirley Moore from Case Western Reserve University, PhD, RN, FAAN, William Munier, MD MBA , from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and Jonathan Weiner, DrPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
The research center, directed by Miyong Kim, PhD, RN, FAAN and funded through a four-year, $1.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), works to significantly reduce cardiovascular health disparities through community engagement, scientific investigation, education, and policy initiatives. Kim noted that “We hope this conference provides all attendees with the opportunity to learn from leading experts about innovative cardiovascular training and research.” Register for the conference online.
