The Board of Commissioners for the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has granted accreditation to the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) Doctor of Nursing Practice Program (DNP), extending through June 30, 2015. The accreditation is effective as of October 19, 2009, which was the first day of the CCNE on-site evaluation of the JHUSON.
The board determined that the program met all four accreditation standards and determined that there were no compliance concerns with respect to key elements.
“This accreditation process required a tremendous amount of work by several people,” said Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Pamela Jeffries, DNS, RN, FAAN, ANEF. “Congratulations to Dr. Kathi White, DNP Program Director, faculty, DNP mentors, DNP advisors, staff, students, and all others who helped make this accreditation possible and successful.”
The Doctor of Nursing Practice program is a practice-focused doctoral program. The mission of the Post-Master’s DNP program is to prepare expert nurse clinicians, administrators, and executive leaders to improve health and health care outcomes through evidence-based practice in diverse clinical, healthcare, and academic settings.
The goal for this JHUSON program is to provide educational experiences in a transdisciplinary collaborative learning environment, with an intense capstone experience that emphasizes evidence-based approaches for quality and safety improvement in various roles and practice settings and provides students with interactive mentorship by clinical experts.
