The American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) of Baltimore is paying tribute to long-time Hopkins Nursing friend Worth B. Daniels, M.D. by offering all Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) faculty, students, and staff free admission to the museum during the months of December, January, and February.

JHUSON Dean Martha Hill noted that in addition to being “a great friend and supporter of nursing,” Dr. Daniels also was a devoted supporter of both the AVAM and a community booster.  Hill praised the efforts of Rebecca Hoffberger, founder and director of the museum, in “bringing together people and places the he treasured.”

According to the invitation AVM extended to the SON, all visitors will need in order to be treated as a VIP guest at the museum is a valid JHUSON ID or business card.  Hill encouraged faculty, students, and staff to “give yourself a treat and go. The [AVM] art is very approachable and much is three dimensional expressing the humor, sadness and beliefs of  self-taught artists.”  She added, “I hope that many of you will enjoy this surprise gift during the holiday break.”

The AVM located at 800 Key Highway in a historic location in downtown Baltimore.  Nestled at the base of historic Federal Hill in the southside of Baltimore’s beautiful Inner Harbor, the American Visionary Art Museum is the national repository for the artworks created by self-taught artists.  The building’s architecture is an artistic creation unto itself and has won many international and national awards for its design and beauty. The AVM is easily accessible by foot (a 15 minute walk from the Convention Center) or by water transport (Water Taxi or Harbor Shuttle) and convenient to all of Baltimore’s downtown attractions.  Museum hours are 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday.  The Museum is closed Mondays.
