The Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing (IJHN) has received a 4-year accreditation from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), to continue its commitment to providing nurses with excellent continuing education.
According to Jo Ann Coleman, MS, RN, ACNP, AOCN, CRNP, coordinator of the Pancreas Multidisciplinary Cancer Clinic, nurse practitioners (NPs) must remain on the cutting edge of clinical and professional information to stay abreast of the rapidly changing science of medicine and nursing.
“IJHN is an ideal forum to provide excellent continuing education programs,” Coleman says. “Having a 4-year accreditation from the AANP demonstrates to the NP looking for a quality CE program, that IJHN has met rigorous requirements and will present excellent and quality programs.”
IJHN executive director Jane Shivnan echoes Colemans attitudes regarding the importance of having the necessary tools for today’s nurses, as well as tomorrow’s nurses.
“We want to continue to get better at developing and providing quality continuing education for NPs,” says Shivnan. “This accreditation will help ensure we meet that goal.”
