Celebrating the Life of Dr. Victoria Mock

A ceremony honoring the life of Victoria (Vicki) Mock, PhD, RN, FAAN, will be held January 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing Alumni Auditorium.  A reception will follow the service.  To attend the celebration, please reply to [email protected] or 410-955-7544.

The commemorative program – planned by the School of Nursing in collaboration with Dr. Mock’s family – will celebrate Dr. Mock’s major contributions and the impact she had on so many colleagues, students, and trainees.

At the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, Dr. Mock served as professor, chair of the Department of Health Systems and Outcomes, and director of the Center for Collaborative Intervention Research.  She also directed nursing research at the Kimmel Cancer Center and held a joint appointment in oncology at the JHU School of Medicine.

The school has created a website for friends and colleagues to post remembrances of Dr. Mock at http://www.son.jhmi.edu/blogs/vickimock/ and established a research fund in her honor.   The Victoria Mock Research Fund will support pilot studies and enhance the work of the Center on Collaborative Intervention Research.  “By establishing and supporting this Fund, we will continue her passion for mentoring new investigators and launching new studies, and thereby celebrate her life and work,” notes Hill.
