Maryann Fralic Named Interim Chair of Department of Health Systems and Outcomes

Professor Maryann F. Fralic, DrPH, RN, FAAN, has been named Interim Chair of the Department of Health Systems and Outcomes at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON).  The announcement follows the recent death of the inaugural chair, Victoria Mock, PhD, RN, FAAN. 

“This department has been initiated with the careful planning of Dr. Mock.  It is our intent to follow the template that she so thoughtfully developed,” says Fralic.  “We will be working to advance the school’s progress in the global implementation of evidence-based standards of practice in health systems to improve outcomes for patients.  Our firm commitment is to dedicate the many talents of our faculty to the principles of excellence in science, education, and clinical practice.”

Fralic’s expertise, advice, and administrative acumen make her a widely sought after speaker, educator, and mentor.  An expert in health services administration and executive nurse practice, Fralic served as vice president for nursing at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  She is currently Coordinator of the school’s Business of Nursing graduate certificate program.  In addition to her work at the SON, Fralic holds an academic appointment with the JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health, serves as an executive advisor for the Nursing Executive Center of the Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC, and is a senior consultant for the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellows Program.

Hill, PhD, RN, FAAN.  “We are fortunate to have such a highly qualified individual who is able and willing to take this interim position.  As we adjust to the grievous loss of Dr. Vicki Mock, both the school and I offer great appreciation and support to Dr. Fralic.”
