Martha N. Hill, PhD, RN, FAAN, Dean of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, is among The Daily Record 2006 Maryland’s Top 100 Women. Established in 1996, The Daily Record annual award program recognizes outstanding professional women in Maryland who give back by mentoring others and working in their communities.
Hill, who has been a faculty member in the School of Nursing since it opened in 1983, has a long history of accomplishment in the field of nursing, mentorship of students and junior faculty members, and service to the health care community. She is internationally known for her work and research in preventing and treating hypertension and its complications, particularly among young, urban African-American men, and is an active investigator and consultant on several NIH-funded clinical trials.
“I’m honored to be among a cadre of such accomplished women and excited about the recognition it brings to the School of Nursing and to our community and public health programs,” noted Hill on learning of the recognition. She added, “I hope to be just one in a long list of Hopkins Nurses recognized in Maryland as those who guide and shape a high standard of excellence in community health planning and delivery.”
Maryland’s Top 100 Women was created to recognize the outstanding achievements of professional women who reside or work in Maryland and to provide the business community with a resource for selecting candidates to fill a management position or corporate board seat. The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony on May 8, 2006 at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore.
