Eight students from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing are recipients of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) scholarship. The competitive federal program awards scholarships to well-prepared Master’s degree bound applicants who demonstrate an interest in providing primary health care services to families and individuals, primarily in the areas of general medicine and obstetrics and gynecology, in exchange for two years of service work.
The scholarship pays full tuition for students and an additional living stipend. Once their studies are completed, students will work at either a rural or urban site where they will deliver community health care for two years.
Congratulations to the recipients: Lisa Goldstein, Joanne Spafford, Ejeanne Queen, Ansu Kuruvilla, and Angela Wilkins, all students in the school’s accelerated baccalaureate program; Terrance James and Laura Adler, juniors in the school’s traditional baccalaureate program; and Master’s student Jennifer Desmond.
In addition to the new scholars announced this year, the school has one senior who continues in the program and eight continuing Master’s students.
