Dear Colleagues:
We want to again thank all of your for the magnificent manner in which you responded to the tragic events of September 11. Within a short time, the entire resources of Johns Hopkins Medicine were mobilized in the event they were needed. While most of our medical resources were not required, we were prepared. Numerous members of the Hopkins family are now asking how they can help even more. We are pleased to provide below, several ways in which you can be of assistance during this national crisis. In addition, we want to take this opportunity to extend a special thanks to the more than 50 Hopkins physicians, nurses and phlebotomists who have volunteered to assist in the White House blood drive last night and today. This is yet another example of the Hopkins spirit of which we all can be rightfully proud.
Hopkins Blood Drive
The Johns Hopkins Fall Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday, September 18 and Wednesday, September 19 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the Turner Concourse. You will receive a free pocket calculator for donating. Please see your departmental recruiter or call the Blood Drive Hotline at 614-0913 to schedule your appointment today. Alternatively, blood donations can be made through local American Red Cross chapters. Please call the American Red Cross Blood Center at 1-800-GIVELIFE (448-3543) and they will direct you to the blood donor center closest to you. Please call first to schedule an appointment to avoid a long wait.

Disaster Relief Services
The Greater New York Hospital Association has established the Disaster Relief Services Fund through its foundation. The fund will support long and short-term emotional support and counseling for victims, their families and the community at large. To contribute, call 212-246-7100.
