Emergency Notification on University Status

or

News Release index

Posted: 9/11/2001

Dear Colleagues:

The nation has suffered a great tragedy today. I know that all of us are
deeply concerned, and that many of us have particular reason to be
concerned about friends and loved ones in the affected areas.

The university is canceling all classes for the remainder of today,
Tuesday, Sept. 11, and for this evening, at all campuses and locations.

All public events scheduled for today and this evening are also canceled.

All School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Hospital employees are to remain at work until further notice.

The university is permitting the early dismissal of other employees at
their supervisors’ discretion. Some employees performing certain functions will, of course, need to remain at work at their supervisors’ direction or may be called in to work because of the situation.

I appreciate your support and flexibility during this national emergency.

Sincerely,

William R. Brody
