Dean Sarah Szanton, PhD, RN, FAAN, recently announced the second cohort of Rising Term Professorships. This is a two-year period of funding for emerging, distinguished faculty to grow their research, increase their local, national, or global collaboration, strengthen their policy involvement, and advance their leadership within nursing and beyond.

The Rising Professors are:

Kelly Gleason, PhD, BSN, RN, FAAN, focuses on quality improvement and patient safety, with an emphasis on strengthening diagnostic processes through informatics, team-based care, and data-driven insights.

Ashley Gresh, PhD, MSN, CNM, seeks to address inequities in maternal and child health by reimagining postpartum care to improve outcomes for birthing people and their families.

Hailey Miller, PhD, RN, focuses on cardiovascular disease prevention through nutrition-based interventions, with a particular emphasis on Food Is Medicine.

Bunmi Ogungbe, PhD, MPH, BNSc, RN, focuses on improving cardiometabolic outcomes among populations most affected by cardiovascular disease.

Martha Abshire Saylor, PhD, MSN, FHSA, FAHA, focuses on reducing the physical, emotional, and existential burden of serious illness while strengthening support for family caregivers who play critical roles in care delivery.

“This significant investment in faculty underscores our commitment to offering rising stars a place where they can thrive while building the science, research, and networks needed to further nursing and improve health,” Szanton says. “These faculty are already making a tremendous impact. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.”
