We know… that change happens at the speed of trust

Over 75% of respondents in Gallup’s annual Most Honest and Ethical Professions Poll consider nurses to be the most trusted profession. This marks the 23rd consecutive year nurses have earned the top spot in the poll.

Since its addition to the survey in 1999, nursing has taken the top spot in all but one year, 2001 in which firefighters earned the honor in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

At the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, we’re proud to be leading educators of the next generation of nurses, teaching students how to build trusting relationships in not just the hospital setting, but out in the community as well.

In 2024, the School of Nursing, in collaboration with the University of Maryland, Morgan State, and Coppin State Schools of Nursing, introduced the Neighborhood Nursing program which aims to bring health care to communities, block by block.

“We are working to build healthier and more equitable communities locally and globally through our research, policy work, and our educational programs. We know through all of these initiatives that change happens at the speed of trust,” says Dr. Robert Atkins, Executive Vice Dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing.

Additionally, Nurse Practitioners were named the No. 1 “Best Job,” No. 1 “Best Health Care Job,” and No. 1 “Best STEM Job” by U.S. News & Word Report for the second year in a row.
