Dean Patricia Davidson became the fourth dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 2013, successfully transitioning the school to an all-graduate curriculum, boosting doctoral programs immensely, and leading through a mantra of “excellence without elitism.” Some of her many accomplishments:

Launched new programs



  • Appointed four new Endowed Professorships
  • Increased scholarship funding by 81 percent
  • Secured the largest philanthropic gifts in JHSON history
  • Raised $65 million for Johns Hopkins University Rising to the Challenge campaign (exceeded goal)
  • State-of-the-art building renovation and addition
