A Digital Health Behavior Intervention to Prevent Childhood Obesity

A Digital Health Behavior Intervention to Prevent Childhood Obesity

Preventing obesity in early childhood is challenging.

Eliana M. Perrin, MD, MPH, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor and William J. Heerman, MD, MPH, of Vanderbilt University talk about it with JAMA Deputy Editor Tracy Lieu, MD on the JN Learning podcast.

The episode discusses their new article, “A Digital Health Behavior Intervention to Prevent Childhood Obesity: The Greenlight Plus Randomized Clinical Trial.” Dr. Perrin is senior author and Dr. Heerman is first author on the paper. They found the addition of a health literacy-informed digital intervention (text messaging and web-based dashboard) showed positive outcomes at 24 months (including reduced childhood obesity).

The article was named JAMA’s editor’s choice original research article on November 3, 2024.
