We’re back! In 2022 we celebrated our first in-person reunion weekend since the COVID-19 pandemic began, as well as the first in the springtime, the first with Dean Sarah Szanton, and the first in our new building.

Discovery & Innovation Showcase

We got to learn about research funded by the Discovery and Innovation Fund. Launched in 2021, it awarded 11 grants to faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and pre-doctoral students and was made possible through gifts from Natalie and Wes Bush, Karen Combs, and a bequest from Gertrude R. Bengtson.

Isabel Hampton Robb Lecture with Dr. Nancy Glass

Nancy Glass, PhD, MPH, MS, RN, FAAN delivered the 2022 Isabel Hampton Robb lecture, “Women and Pandemics: How Disease Furthers Gender Inequality.” She is professor, associate director of the Center for Global Health, and Independence Chair in Nursing Education.

We celebrated the jubilarians from the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Church Home and Hospital Classes of 1970, 1971, and 1972.

Johns Hopkins University Alumni Awards Heritage Award recipient: Karen Combs

In particular, she has supported faculty innovation – through the establishment of the Discovery & Innovation Fund. She also supports the CAPABLE Program, Pigs for Peace, and Passports to Freedom, and scholarships for nursing students.  Karen is also a valued member of the Nursing Advisory Board.

Distinguished Alumni Award for 2022: Patricia Kniffin Roberts

Patricia Kniffin Roberts graduated in 1965 from Church Home. Her nursing career included working on every unit in every department of the hospitals she worked in, and later in life, centering much of her time and attention to giving back to the community where she lived.
