“We Got This” Wins Awards

“The New Script of Nursing—We Got This” video recently received the Silver Award in the 2017 American Advertising Awards (Addy’s) and an honorable mention from PR Daily’s Video Awards! The video, along with an entire “We Got This” campaign, was created by the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing last fall and shared with nurses and nursing schools/associations around the world to show the changing landscape and opportunities within the profession.

The Addy’s recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising and are presented by the American Advertising Federation. More than 40,000 entries are submitted every year, and the We Got This video was honored in the Branded Content Campaign category. (Congratulations and special thanks to HackStone Film Group for the production and award submission.)

The PR Daily Video Awards, which celebrate insightful, humorous, or educational storytelling, look at digital media trending, crafty editing, and videos that bring people back to watch time and time again. Our entry was honored in the Video Series category of the award.

“The New Script of Nursing—We Got This” video, with upfront camera angles, vivid script reading, and interweaving text and photos, took viewers through a contemporary view of the roles of nurses. It dispelled the misconception that nurses simply follow the doctor’s orders and showcased nurses as researchers, inventors, policy advocates, and more. In addition to the video, the school launched a “Behind the Scenes” video and seven vignettes that highlighted nursing specialties including women’s health, HIV/AIDS, violence, pediatrics, aging, ethics, and administration.

Nurses across the world used the opportunity to send the video to their colleagues, share it on social media (using the hashtag #WeGotThis), and post their own incredible stories. We’re glad to see it’s still going strong. Check it out for yourself.
